First Sentence Friday!

Like I mentioned last week, the next three chapters first sentences have too much in them and would spoil a portion of the story if I provided it to you as written.Β  You wouldn’t like that, or at least I assume you wouldn’t.Β  Therefore, I’m hiding key words.Β  Think of it like extra enticement!

CHAPTER NINETEEN

It was a week ago that Mama called us into Granny’s house and told us ***** wasΒ  ********Β  ******.

See?Β  It’s intriguing, but no spoilers!

  1. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! HOWMUCHLONGERHOWMUCHLONGERHOWMUCHLONGERHOWMUCHLONGERHOWMUCHLONGER????

      1. I should tell you, my friend at work who heard about Dixie from me is entering another Goodreads contest for a copy. She’s intrigued! (And if she wins, I won’t be able to buy it for her for Christmas … shoot.)

      2. That’s so exciting! The contest ends tonight. Last I checked, 850+ people had entered. (I’m in shock) I’m also starting to get reviews b/c it’s now out on Netgalley and Scribd where they can request a copy. So far, so good. It’s hard NOT to pay attention – especially when it’s not out yet!

  2. Grrrr … so not only do you tease us with a single sentence, but now you leave words out of the single sentence? Did you torture your kids this way too? Send them to bed with no dinner, and then sit outside their room clanking silverware across your plate as you cut the sweet-smelling steak. How does it feel now, kids? Hmmmm?

And we don’t get the full meal for two months?!?! You gotta be feeling awfully smug right about now, Everhart!

    1. Wheee! This is so much fun! Oh no, that’s WAY too nice regarding the kids. I’d actually make them sit at the table, with a plate right there, and not let them take one bite. πŸ™‚
Geez. What’s that screeching noise…is that you?

  3. So many options. We know the second word is a consonant though.
    D is a W
    A is a G
    B is a B
    R is a P
I like the last one. One day I will find out for sure but it is taking so long.

    1. Good heavens – those puzzles used to drive me crazy. I love to unscramble words – and I try to time myself when I do that. But when we start replacing letters with other letters? I simply go have a drink. πŸ™‚
