On Writing and Publishing…an Authorlink Interview

Authorlink contributor, Diane Slocum, requested an interview to discuss my writing process on THE EDUCATION OF DIXIE DUPREE.

What is uniquely different about each interview I’ve done thus far, is the interviewer’s ability to make me really think about not only my personal writing habits, but how I got from one place to the next with regard to certain aspects of a story, or a character’s development.

You can read the interview here.

  1. Having read all your interviews, I think I am familiar with your process as a writer when it comes to Dixie–and yet, I keep learning something new in each new interview! This one was particularly moving for me.

Also, I feel more hopeful about my own process as a writer now. Thank you so much, Donna! <3 <3 <3

    1. There are so many details when I think about how to answer a question without writing five pages, so, I still have a lot of fodder to use if I do another one! 🙂 I’m glad you connected with this interview…I love sharing what happened because it truly is unique to each individual – particularly with regard to the time frame before publication. And, you’re very welcome, Lilac! <3 <3 <3

  2. “It never works out the way you think it will.” Yeah, you’re right, those are words any writer should take encouragement from. And this writer will! Great interview, Donna. So happy for your success.

    1. It’s the one thing that’s stuck out to me – since my book was picked up. I certainly NEVER thought it would get published after it went on sub that first time. And then it was another book on sub that drew the attention to this one. Very different submission process, that was! 🙂

I’m glad you liked the interview!
