The Day Before

I think I’m ready.

Had to make adjustments to the table to include two extra, but despite those funny looking chairs, I think it’ll do!

We’re having turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, dressing (cause if your from the South, it’s dressing, not stuffing) gravy, sweet potato casserole, string bean casserole, shoepeg corn casserole, (casseroles!), peas, cranberry sauce, rolls, and sweet tea.

A little wine.

A little Southern Comfort eggnog.

I mean, why not get a jump on holiday cheer?

Desserts you ask?  Pumpkin pie, of course!  Cheesecake, Hershey Bar cake, and my mother-in-law asked if we “needed” a pound cake.  Of course we always NEED a pound cake, but this time around, I said “no.”  I might regret that.

If you celebrate Thanksgiving, are you ready?

You say you are from the south. Then where is the pecan pie? No southerner would have family over without a pecan pie.

I hope you had a good holiday.

No doubt that is true. It could be b/c I caught a stomach bug years ago, and what was the very LAST thing I ate beforehand? Pecan pie. I have never been able to enjoy it since. It’s “sort of” banned.

      🙂

And I hope you and yours had a good holiday too.

I would say it is a shame but then I remember that I have had some awful syrup pies. I call them that because what most people know of as a pecan pie can only be called that because they contain pecans.

The three eggs, cup of sugar, cup of Karo and a stick of butter pie was actually a marketing tool. The wife of the vice president of Karo developed it in the early days of Karo. At that time no one bought it because they didn’t know what to do with it. It is amazing that now almost everyone thinks that is a real pecan pie.

I’ll send you the recipe for a spectacular pecan pie that I developed with your Christmas present.
