This Book!

I had no idea what trouble I’d be getting into upon the arrival of this.  What could it be?

We’re about to find out…

A book!

I was sooooo excited!  Can you tell??

DSCF0163

Because…it wasn’t just any old book… it was this book!

But…little did I know once I started reading, I wouldn’t be able to put it down.

I couldn’t cook! (well, I can’t anyway, but you see what I mean)

Or run…

Or get through yoga…

Or shower (!!)

I mean, I couldn’t even go to the store…. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I. Just. Couldn’t. Put. It. Down.  It was so good!

(Yeah.  I know.  They say texting and driving is dangerous, but I had one eye on the road, I promise.)

I told Averil once I finished the book that she had not wasted not one single word.  Not one.  Her writing is tight, crisp, full of description and feeling, which puts you right there with her characters.  ALICE CLOSE YOUR EYES is a psychological thriller and was published December 31 2013 by Harlequin MIRA.  I’ve come to know Averil through her blog, where she writes as eloquently and passionately as this story she’s crafted so well.  You can find her blog here.

The book has received good reviews (although I think mine is right on up there 🙂 ) from Kirkus, Zola,  and Romantic Times, to name a few.  But, if you just want to know more about how this writer “ticks,” you can delve into the interviews located on her blog, (post called Show And Tell) where she gives candid and witty answers to questions from a few fellow writers who also hang out there on her site.

So Why are you still sitting there?  Go buy the book!

Then I achieved my goal! My hubby took the pictures and we both hoped none of our neighbors saw us for the outside stuff. 🙂

It absolutely was fun! I mentioned to Averil that I had an idea for my blog to talk about her book.

I think she was nervous…but I honestly didn’t do any muahhahaha noise after I said that. Honest.

    That’s just cool Donna.
I love your little dog, but the shots of you running are the best.
Your husband’s a good sport too — you should think of other great fun stuff you can do together to impress the neighbours!
Just don’t get your ideas for that from Averil’s book…

Thanks, Mr. iPants…I love my little doggie too. His name is Mister, but I call him Bundle.

Can you tell it was cold that day? I’d actually run earlier, and knew we were going to do this the same day, so I was already frozen. But yeah, the neighbors have already been duly impressed – for at least a few months. Will have to save the other “ideas” for warmer weather!
