Oh. My.
Chapter 35 of 36. ????
This is the perfect example of feeling like having all the time in the world, only to realize, it’s running out! I will miss doing these posts and interacting with you all each Friday. No worries though. It’s not like the blog will go dormant! You can bet I’ll have something up my sleeve to talk about every now and then – and who knows, maybe even some FREE books. ????????????????

Here’s something interesting. I live in Harnett County, which is mentioned in the book. I recently found out after a visit to Dunn’s History Museum (my husband and his guys worked on extensively creating shelves, and display cases for it) this little town I live in was once known as “Hell’s Half Acre.” It was a destination for distilling the pine resin into turpentine. In the History Museum are artifacts and old tools used back then, the bark hacks, dipping cups, and other items also mentioned in the book.
As you’ll note below in this chapter, Del is in Bladen County, NC. This isn’t too far away either. The Cape Fear river runs nearby, and was an excellent method of transporting turpentine back in the day. In this particular part of the book, the characters begin to do some reflection.

He’d made some mistakes in his life, no doubt.

It’s so hard to pick just one favorite book from a whole year of books! I did love The Daughters of Mars, by a Thomas Keneally, enough to buy it for several people for Christmas. And enough that I’m sure I will read it again.
I think that says a lot right there! And I’ve never heard of the book, (or the author) and will have to go look it up!
The book I really enjoyed last year was The Champagne Widows
by Rebecca Rosenberg. Thank you for your. generosity Donna to win your fabulous book Saints of Swallowhill. ❣️????‼️
I
I recall when Rebecca was promoting the book! She did a FB Live and had champagne and everything! So creative! (and brave – me? Yeah, live is NOT my forte – haha)
